ENDURANCE RACING

The aim of an Endurance race is to do as many laps as possible in the time allowed. You must complete the first lap to get a result. After the first lap you can start and finish laps whenever you wish. After the cut off time you will not be allowed to start a new lap, but if you have already started the lap before the cut off time you will be able to complete the lap and it will be counted in your results. If you stop riding before the cut off time your completed laps will still count and you will get a result.

The 6 hour race will start at 9am, and the 3 hour race at midday. Race track will close at 3pm, with no new laps to be started after that. Those still on their last lap will be able to complete it.

RIDER BIBS

LTDR have just purchase a timing system that will allow us to run all our club events a lot more

professionally. This timing system has come at a great cost to the club and for this reason we will be

taking a $5 deposit for race plates that you will get back when you return the race plate post event.

This will allow us to reuse these plate at all our upcoming events.

WITHDRAWL / CHANGES

There are no withdrawals as of Friday 20th October at 5:00pm of entries. If you have entered any

information incorrectly, need to update contact, emergency or medical details, or change category,

please contact the events team via email: events@lysterfieldmtb.com

WET WEATHER POLICY

LDTR reserve the right to move part or all of the race on to fire roads in the interest of public safety

and reducing the races impact on the trail network that we work so hard to maintain and improve. In

the event the race is cancelled LDTR are prepared to offer a refund to those that ask for it, or we will

consider it a donation to the trail fund.

RIDE CHECKLIST

To ensure that you have the best ride possible, use this checklist to make sure you have all the

essentials to complete the Gran Fondo Australia.

Essential items:

• Australian Certified Helmet

• Serviceable mountain bike – your bike will need to be of a sound

condition suitable for XC trails. It should be suited to the distance you

expect to ride

• Spares

• Current Auscycling licence

• Adequate water for the race distance you have chosen (there is water available on

site)

• Nutrition, but don’t forget we have awesome coffee, sausages at the event.

• Money for our awesome food and drinks!

• Trolley for transporting gear into the village

EBIKE CATEGORIES

Battery Drops

Due to The Golden Goat being a club race sanctioned by AusCycling battery drops or range extenders

will not be allowed in any e-bike category. Part of the challenge of riding in an endurance race such

as this is being able to manage your battery use.

Chipping

Pedal assisted E-Bikes may be used provided they do not have a power output greater than 250w or

a power speed faster than 25km/h.

Chipping is mechanical doping and carries same sanctions as drug use, ie up to 30k fine and auto 4

year ban.

THE COURSE

image.png

For the 3 and 6 hours courses, the lap length is around 10.5kms and 240M of climbing per lap.

For the juniors, a lap is 6.9kms, and 140M of climbing.

For the second year, The Golden Goat will see riders using the Comms Games track as well as riding

Redgum and Middle trails backwards.

Noting that racing this way, there are a couple of drop offs that are now step ups, which riders will

have to negotiate. This will be easy for some, but a little more difficult for others.

Marshals will be placed at intersections to ensure everyone is safe, and as such, if you are involved

in, or see a rider in trouble, please stop to assist, and send someone to the next marshal location so

we can help. We are only too happy to alter times of riders who have stopped to render assistance

to an injured rider, or a junior who is in a pickle.

START PROCEDURE

The 6 hour start will feature a prologue which takes riders from the village along Valley view

track, then left into the Comm Games switchback climb. This extra fire road section is to help

ease congestion before hitting the single track.

The 3 hour riders will also complete the same prologue.

3 hour Junior pairs riders will start on the main course and complete a modified lap which is

shorter and takes out much of the comm games part of our race course. Its designed to allow

junior racers to get in and have a go, without the nasty climbs or technical features.
