Frequently Asked Questions
When are your next skills session dates?
If the date at the bottom of our Skills Session page has passed, please keep up to date with our Facebook page, Instagram, Forum, E-Mail list and website blog posts for when we will hold our next session.
LDTR currently does not offer bike hire. There is no bike hire/rental available at Lysterfield Park. Visiting a local bike shop and enquiring if they offer bike hire is the best option.
Try these options in Melbourne:
What are the trail conditions now?
Please visit our Trail Conditions page where the latest trail reports will be shared.
If there are any closures of any of the trails within the park, it will be shared on the News page of this website, the Trail Conditions website page, the Trail Reports Forum thread, our Instagram page and Facebook page.
We do not recommend riding the trails if the past 24 hours has had more than 10mm of rain.
It's easy to help support the club. You can contribute by either donating money to the club, becoming a member with the club, or by volunteering your time at our races or at our trail builds.
All of the money goes back into running events, upgrading the trails and working towards making the park one of the greatest mountain biking locations in the world. All donations are greatly appreciated and we make sure each dollar is spent wisely.
If you are looking at visiting Lysterfield Park, but don't have access to a hire car or someone who can drive you to the park, the next best option is public transport.
Visit the Public Transport Victoria Journey Planner to work out the best way for you to get to the park.
If you have access to a train station, the best way is to catch a train and then a bus which stops off close to Lysterfield Park. The closest train stations are Hallam Station or Belgrave station. From Belgrave station you can ride through Tecoma and then an area called Birdsland (north of Lysterfield Park)
Do you have weekly rides?
We have weekly club rides every Tuesday Night which start at 6pm from just inside the main gates at Horswood Road.
These rides are not a formal or organised ride and are just a bunch of like-minded riders wanting to ride in a group.
The ride usually goes ahead if someone posts up on the Tuesday Night forum thread asking if anyone wants to ride/is going to ride.
Lights are needed during winter.
The ride is roughly 20km and completed in about 1.5hours. It is a no-drop ride, where there are multiple spots that the group will stop and wait for the slower riders.
MTBA Social ride insurance IS HIGHLY recommended to cover you in case you injure yourself.
